“Autumn… the year’s last, loveliest smile.”– William Cullen Bryant
Autumn is always an exciting time for the Mississippi Jaycees. The weather finally gives us a break from the heat and we get outside and enjoy it! The MS Jaycees have had a very successful year and we plan to continue the momentum through the rest of 2018. This year we have chartered two new chapters, Petal and Picayune, which are both doing exceptionally well. We cannot wait to see what positive change these two chapters bring to their communities and our state in the future.
Hattiesburg Jaycees have been busy working a beer garden at a weekly concert series in the park. They have added 7 new members this year and their goal is another 6 before close out. Hattiesburg is currently planning to host “Friendsgiving” November 20 and open it all chapters in MS and the public. This is the last event and meeting before our 68th annual Christmas Parade that is everyone’s favorite event.
Petal Jaycees have partnered with our Chamber of Commerce as the official Young Professional group for the City. They recently held a pumpkin carving contest at the Petal Fall Festival and have asked to plan their Christmas Parade by the Chamber of Commerce.
Picayune Jaycees hosted a Fall Festival with outdoor movie, corn hole, a bounce house for the kids, and a pumpkin carving contest. This was their first event, and the food was amazing! They are also setting us a vendor at a local festival their City hosts.
We would also like to extend congratulations to our 2019 President Elects:
Megan Bradberry – Hattiesburg Jaycees
Katherine Minyard – Petal Jaycees
Hunter Lumpkin – Picayune Jaycees
Kayla Cedatol, State President Elect 2019, Petal Jaycees
It has been a wonderful year serving this state organization and it excites me to see the new leaders sharing the ‘year’s last loveliest smile’ with me!
